Because you're not debating facts.
You're each protecting how your world fits together in your own mind.
It compared the opinion to what you already believe.
It checked your Memory Archive which gave a quick, Nope!
Facts are irrelevant.
Your brain is constantly doing cost calculations behind the scenes.
It just doesn't always let you know why it decided what it decided.
Your brain already ran the numbers.
Changing it looked more expensive than staying the course.
Your brain remembered the cost of leaving.
Not just the reason you left.
The same thought can carry a totally different risk level depending on whether you're talking to your mom, your boss, your grocery store checkout lady, or your teenager.
Your brain just updated your own rules.
Which is pretty smart. You don't want to be judged next.
Willpower is actually not a thing.
People never act because "they really wanted to."
They act because of the cost weighting going on in the background.
No surprise.
Different conditions = Different load = Different outcome.
They’re not trying harder.
They’re paying less for the same thing.

You’re guessing what they will do.
They’re guessing what you will do.
Half the time you're guessing wrong in real time.
It's not personal. It's the way it works.
They solved the problem they saw.
You're in a totally different issue.
It's not a communication problem.
They already closed the question.
While, you’re still exploring it.
That gap is the tension.
